Minor league stats in
OOTP are usually not accurate with real life. Running a 24 team league with 5 levels of minors I found that pitching seems to dominate. I use 20-80 or 2-8 ratings usually, and prefer to use stats for analyzing players. The purpose of this project is to find find league total modifiers that result in 'accurate' minor league stats.
Background: The league totals in
ootp are effected by 3 factors:
1) Distribution and level of talent in the league.
2) League total modifiers
3) Ballpark factors.
Thus, the same modifiers won't work for all league structures. For a longer explanation see
League Totals and Modifiers
I collected historical league totals from 1992-2008 for each of the official minor leagues of the mlb from
Minor League Baseball Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com. Attached is the spreadsheet I used to calculate the averages over this period, historical summary, and my modifiers.
I'm fairly happy with the results. Triples and stolen bases seem to fluctuate a bit, but the main stats hits/doubles/hr/so/bb reached my "target" values. I simmed with a 28 team/1 division league. Perfectly balanced schedule so each team plays the other 6 times.
These settings should work for any league with 5 levels of minors and/or the same influx of talent. I use a 20 round draft and generate players for 21 rounds. 10% foreign players and hidden players ON.
