your place in the standings has no bearing on injuries.Actually if anything,it has been proven that injuries are a little low compared to real life.I don't have to tell you that baseball is a long season and things like injuries happen.Its the teams that overcome them who go on to immortality.Just look at this years Phillies,Brad Lidge,Jimmy Rollins,Shane Victorino,Geoff Jenkins,Carlos Ruiz,Pedro Feliz,Jason Werth,and Tom Gordon all spent time on the DL,and thats not to mention Chase Utley,who was hampered with a hip injury that would have shelved lesser men for the season.Instead,Chase toughed it out choosing to wait until the off-season to have the surgery.
