August 1,2,3 at Durham Bobcats (49-50)

August 1-A six run 5th inning, capped by a bases clearing triple off the bat off of William Vinson, lead the Bobcats to a 7-6 win over the Mules. River Little hit a solo HR for Durham, while Fernando Peralta hit a two run blast for Newmarket in the loss. (46-53)

August 2-Alberto Flores hit a go ahead grand slam in the 7th inning, and drove in five runs for the game as Newmarket beat Durham, 8-5. The Mules won despite committing four errors, three of them on successive plays in a 3 run 3rd inning for the Bobcats. Dan Zimmerman won his 3rd straight start, going seven innings, allowing just three hits and four runs, but just one earned, walking five and striking out seven in the win. (47-53)

August 3-Rodrigo Sanchez pitched eight innings, allowing seven hits and four runs to go with one walk and five strikeouts, and he got offensive support from Jim Dunbar, who hit a two run homerun as Durham beat Newmarket 5-4. Jose Velazquez added a two run single in the win for the Bobcats. (47-54)

August 5,6,7 at Portland Bulldogs (45-56)

August 5-Fernando Peralta hit a two run HR and Roberto Rodriguez added three hits and an RBI as Newmarket beat Portland 8-5. Chester Griffin allowed four runs and just two hits over seven innings, walking three and striking out four, picking up his first win as a member of the Mules. Mario Saenz went 2-3 with a homeruns, three RBI and two runs scored in the loss for the Bulldogs. (48-54)

August 6-Fernando Peralta had a pair of doubles and an RBI, and Jesus Guardado pitched eight innings of one run ball as the Mules beat the Bulldogs 3-2. Guardado allowed eight hits and two runs, just one earned, while walking two and striking out five, earning his 13th win of the year. John Coury pitched a scoreless ninth, earning his 20th save of the year in the win. (49-54)

August 7-Dan Zimmerman won his fourth straight start, coming within one out of a complete game, allowing eight hits and four runs over 8 2/3 innings, walking four and striking out five, while getting offensive support from Roberto Rodriguez ans Sergio Hernandez, who each hit two run homeruns, giving the Mules a sweep of the Bulldogs, winning 6-4. (50-54)
