August 8,9,10 v Augusta Moose (52-52)
August 8-Marvin Sellers hit a two run HR as Jose Barron was the hard luck loser, pitching eight innings, allowing just five hits and three runs with no walks and 12 strikeouts, but was outpitched by Jorge Garcia, who allowed just two hits and one run over seven innings as Augusta beat Newmarket 3-1. (50-55)

August 9-Roberto Rodriguez had three hits and two RBI and Alberto Flores added three hits and one RBI in support of Chester Griffin, who went the first eight innings, allowing four hits and three runs, walking one and striking out 12, picking up his 2nd win as a member of the Mules, as Newmarket beat Augusta 6-4. (51-55)

August 10-A five run 7th inning, capped by a three run HR off the bat of Roberto Rodriguez broke open a 2-2 tie as the Mules beat the Moose 9-2. Alberto Flores homered and drove in two in the win for the Mules and Scott Fullerton added two hits and two runs scored as well. Jesus Guardado pitched eight innings, allowing six hits and one earned run, picking up his 14th win of the year. (52-55)

August 11,12,13,14 v Bangor Crusaders (57-49)
August 11-Denis Sullivan and Auerlio Barron each hit two run homeruns off Dan Zimmerman as Bangor got past Newmarket 4-2. Hyeok Park pitched 7 1/3 innings, giving up four hits, no runs, no walks and eight strikeouts, earning the win, while Dan Zimmerman pitched seven innings giving up nine hits and four runs with six strikeouts in the loss. (52-56)

August 12-Jose Barron pitched a complete game two hitter allowing one run and one walk while striking out 13, picking up his first win for Newmarket. He got offensive support from Roberto Rodriguez, who hit a two run HR and Sergio Hernandez and Scott Fullerton, who each had two hits and an RBI in the 4-1 Mules win. (53-56)

August 13-Scott Fullerton hit a two out, walk off double, scoring Allan Fox, who had hit a pinch hit double, giving the Mules a 4-3 win in 11 innings against the Crusaders. Mario Decos and Roberto Rodriguez each homered in the win for Newmarket, and John Coury pitched the final three innings, allowing two hits and striking out one, earning the win and evening his record at 5-5 on the year. (54-56)

August 14-Newmarket moved within one game of .500 for the first time since they were 12-13 on May 3rd, as Jesus Guardado scattered seven hits over eight innings, allowing just one unearned run, walking three and striking out four, and Bobby Harris spearheaded a 4 run 6th inning with a three run HR, his 6th HR of the year, helping the Mules take three of four from Bangor, winning 4-1. (55-56)

-The Dover Green Wave and 36 year old C Pablo Lucero have agreed on a two year contract extention that will see Lucero paid just under $4.1 million dollars total. On the year, Lucero is hitting .302 with 17 homeruns and 50 RBI in 330 AB for Dover on the year, while throwing out 29.7% of basestealers.
-The Davners Falcons and closer Dylan Roads have agreed on a new one year extention that will take Roads through the end of next season, paying him $211,000. On the year, Roads has 15 saves in 29 appearances. In 65 innings, he has allowed 59 hits and 24 walks while striking out 56.
Ending the season for the Mules as they try to get above .500 for the first time since the end of April are three games in Portsmouth against the Clippers, followed by the last six games of the year, all at home. The first three against the Dover Green Wave followed by the Durham Bobcats coming to Newmarket to end the season with three games.
