1995 All-Star Break

June 22nd 1995 - A reasonably understated start to the new season in the EBL. Here's hoping for a build up to an incredible climax in the play-offs.

Code:
WL North Sea EL Baltic

Madrid 27 48 15 Moscow 30 45 15
Notes -

Madrid and Copenhagen started as they meant to go on with only single figure wins (8 and 9 respectively) in the first month of the season. The Armada fired their GM in early June.
Budapest won 20 games in May, which means they have won only 20 games in April and June combined. Paris also won 20 in May, whilst Helsinki were winning 21 in the month.
Hamburg gave climbed back into the Baltic division race with a fantastic June. They have only lost 5 times so far this month.
The wildest game of the season so far saw Brussels beat neighbours Amsterdam 14-12 in 18 innings.
There was also a game in which Madrid scored 4 times in the top of the 13th inning only to see the Glasgow Stallions respond with 5 runs in their half of the 13th to win 7-6.

Player Notes -

Phil Cockx (Lisbon) hit 3 HR and picked up 7 RBI in his team's 16-12 victory over Dublin on April 5th. Paris' Fabien 'Sawmill' Lefebvre also had a 3 HR game in the first half. He led his team to a 7-4 win against Zurich by driving in 5 runs.
Gunnar Rippner (Moscow) hit a walk-off 3-run homer against Warsaw on April 17th.
The best pitching performance of the season so far is a one-hitter by Rafael Ferrugento (Zurich) against Milan, in which he struck out 8 Mud Cats.
Brussels have picked up both WL Hitter of the Month awards so far. Salmund Jaerbyn won in April and Nicodemus Theothanou added to his personal silverware in May. Their EL couterparts were Clodio Picano (Helsinki) and Thomas Meinert (Stockholm), who had a stellar second month for his new club, going .389 with 10 homers.
Malcolm Kennedy (Dublin) won the WL Pitcher of the Month in April with Philippe Da Silva (Berlin) taking the EL award. A reliever won the WL award in May - Thomas Espeland of Paris picked up 11 saves and 2 victories in the month. The EL's winner was Hubert Sittler (Prague).
Lars Tommeras (Madrid) saw his consecutive save streak end at 48 in the first few weeks of the season. It is the second longest streak in EBL history.
Bernard Wulker (Sofia) became the second man to pass the 2500 hit mark on June 13th.
Ilija Kovacevic (Amsterdam) had a 6/6 day in his team's 15-6 win against London.
Normally light-hitting Shortstop Joakim Tronstad (Zurich) hit 2 home runs and picked up 7 RBIs as the Jesters won 10-6 against Vienna on June 10th.

Significant Injuries -

Paulus Penning (Lisbon) missed a month early on.
Raul Marroquin (Barcelona) wasn't having all that good a season, but he was threat to break out at any time. He will miss around three months in total with a elbow injury. He was hitting .273 with 3 homers in the middle of May when he picked up the injury.
Richard Fabre (Vienna) will miss the whole season with an elbow complaint. He hit .325 through the first two months of the season.
