I have the old version. The divisions were in a different order but otherwise the same. That can be easily juggled in this case, which I think had been done originally. It was only 124 games, but another 16 games tacked onto the end would not be too tough.
Everything was in 4-game series. Division games were 8 or 12 per opponent, then I am pretty sure 1 team (or in some cases 2 teams) from every other division was played. It was not necessarily exclusively non-division then division games, but almost. Once division games began the non-division series were rare.
