-Newmarket closer John Coury was awarded just over 2.1 million dollars in arbitration. Coury, the NEBL's all time saves leader, was 2-3 with a 2.09 ERA. He pitched in 46 games, covering 56 innings where he allowed 44 hits and 19 walks with 65 strikeouts, and saving 36 games.
-The Dover Green Wave have sent 30 year old P Ryushi Oda to the Danvers Falcons for former Newmarket Mule OF Dennis Spears. Oda struggled last year, going 5-12 with a 4.57 ERA. He started 26 games, pitching 169 1/3 innings, allowing 182 hits and 82 walks while striking out just 65. Spears, in a backup role last year for Danvers, hit .225 with 2 homeruns and 15 RBI in 138 AB's, while playing in 109 games.
-Dover made a second trade this month, sending RP Jose Fernandez to the Peabody Tanners in exchange for 26 year old 2B Ron Brooks. Fernandez was 2-2 with a 3.52 ERA and 2 saves a year ago for Dover. He pitched in 32 games, covering 46 innings where he allowed 36 hits and 20 walks with 42 strikeouts. Brooks hit .235 with 2 homeruns and 21 RBI. His biggest asset however, as he stole 19 bases this past year, but stole 48 bases in the 2008 season.
