Now that the deadline for teams to swap players has come and gone, it looks like Boston is well on its way to a third pennant in four years. This week, two of the team's established stars - second baseman Ross Barnes and pitcher Curry Foley - both had extraordinarily good weeks to allow Boston to extend the lead.

Meanwhile, there is one other player approaching the 1,000 hit mark for his career. This season, Cleveland first baseman Jim Foran has the opportunity to become the fifth person ever to reach 1,000 hits. Foran now has 970 career hits with about two months left in the season.
