Boston is on an absolute tear and has won nine games in a row. With only 24 games left in their season, they have a seven game lead over the second-place Detroit club, so they are getting awfully close to wrapping up their third National League pennant. This week, they host the NL's second-hottest team of late - the Buffalo Bisons.
Meanwhile, the Chicago White Stockings have completely bottomed out. They are the worst team in the National League, and with two of their top players planning on leaving this offseason, it may be a while before they're able to be competitive in the NL.
