Cat: We are getting one step closer each year it seems. Hopefully we can continue that trend this year!

April 26,27,28 v Portland Bulldogs (6-12)

April 26-Steve Davis went 3-4 with three doubles and three RBI and backup C Cal Strong hit a three run HR as Portland beat Newmarket, 8-3. Alberto Flores went 3-4 with two doubles, a HR and three RBI in the loss to lead the Mules attack. Dominic Proulx struggled, allowing four hits and four runs in two innings of relief, picking up the loss. (14-5)

April 27-Rafael Gutierrez, 0-10 since joining the Mules, hit a three run homerun to lead Newmarket past Portland, 7-0. Jesus Guardado pitched his best game of the year, allowing six hits and no runs, walking none and striking out five to improve to 3-1 on the year. Pablo Alvarez also drove in a pair of runs for Newmarket in the win. (15-5)

April 28-Alberto Flores had two hits and two RBI and Juan Escobedo went 3-4 with an RBI as Newmarket snuck past Portland 4-3. Chris Briggs pitched eight innings, scattering six hits and three runs, walking none and striking out nine, picking up his 3rd win of the year. John Coury struck out the side, pitching a perfect ninth, earning his 6th save of the season. (16-5)

April 29,30, May 1 at Dover Green Wave (8-13)

April 29-Trailing 4-3 entering the 8th inning, Dover scored once in each the 8th and 9th innings as they complete the comeback and beat the Mules, 5-4. The run in the eight scored on a double play groundout, and the winning run in the bottom of the 9th scored on a walkoff single by Tom Carver. Yoshimasa Miyazaki went 3-4 with a homerun, and Tom Carver added three hits and an RBI to lead the Dover attack. (16-6)

April 30-Brad Ford, hitting .128 coming into the game, went 2-3 including the game winning homerun in the top of the 9th inning as Newmarket got past Dover, 2-1. Felipe Garcia pitched eight innings, giving up seven hits and just the one run, while walking two and striking out eight, earning the win. Ford scored both runs for the Mules in the game, the first coming when he came around on an error by Don Behan in the 3rd. (17-6)

May 1-Alberto Flores hit a pair of homeruns, driving in five runs and scoring three times as Newmarket hammered Dover 9-2. Fernando Peralta and Roberto Rodriguez each added three hits to assise Juan Jose Fernandez, who improved to 3-0 on the year, pitching seven innings, allowing just four hits and two runs, striking out eight. (18-6)

(Editor's Note: Going forward I will try to give a little more information in between series. With the new baby, I am quite tired and just kinda want to get the series typed up and move on!)
