Jem Williams (142965)

Note * Boxrec has 'Jim', most of the stuff I have dug up about Williams has 'Jem', the picture is named Jem.

Career Record: Boxrec; W9(KO 3)/L11(KO 5)/D0
The English Champions (Bill Matthews); W36(KO 3)/L11(KO 5)/D0

Williams held the following domestic titles;

English 6st 8lbs Title
English 8st 2lbs - 8st 4lbs Title
English 8st 4lbs Title
English Bantamweight Title

Williams fought 8 fights against official TB database men and 3 more contests against fighters rated in this thread.

Whilst reporting on the June 1899 points defeat against Harry Ware, the 'Mirror of Life' described Williams as a 'clever two handed fighter'. It would appear that after Williams defeated Pedlar Palmer, lifting the British Bantamweight belt at the NSC, great things were expected of him by the members of the club. His career actually tailed off after this win.

Four of the five stoppage losses incurred by Williams took place at the end of his 14 year career. These heavy losses were suffered against the likes of Kid McFadden, Johnny Summers and the brilliant if aging George Dixon.

This rating is speculative and not part of the database.
