The Twins must have been hoping for more from Glen Perkins' first career start. After 23 relief appearances over two season, getting a shot in the starting rotation, Perkins could not contain the Sox lineup as the Twins dropped their fourth straight.

Perkins, replacing Keisaburo Tanoue (3 GS, 0-2, 10.54 ERA, 13.2 IP) in the rotation, lasted only three and a third innings, allowing 6 runs, 5 earned, on seven his and four walks. Jon Lester, starting for the Sox, pitched seven innings, surrendering only three runs on five hits.

Manny Ramirez snapped out of his funk, going 3-3 on the night with a two-run home run in the third that put the game away for Boston.
