Matchmaking/Scheduling
I have mucked about with the auto scheduler for years now without it quite giving me the logic/story potential needed for a proper universe imo.
So ive been thinking about how I want to do my match making and ive come up with a system that hopefully includes all the reasons fights actually take place.
Bear with me its a long post.
First of all each fighter is randomly checked to see if they are active that month. (pls see following activity system post).
Once all active fighters in a division are known then we check the monthof the year to see what kind of fights are being scheduled that month. There are five distinct types of fights and fight months they are as follows.
REGIONAL, INTERNATIONAL, MONEY, GRUDGE and lastly TUNE UPS.
This is what they mean.
REGIONAL
At the start of my universe, due to there being only a small amount of countries present, i have split the world into three regions.
America - Covering both Canada and the US at the moment.
Britain - Covering Great Britain and Ireland.
Australia - Covering obviously fighters from Oz.
Now as the universe expands and goes foward in time I wil lintroduce more regions when they are needed such as Europe, South America etc.
During a regional fight month each fighter active will simply fight the next highest fighter in performance points within their own region. If one is not available they will not fight.
MONEY
Using my previous work on a fighters popularity. On a money fight month the most popular active fighter that month will simply fight the next most popular and so on until all active fighters have been matched.
TUNE UPS
In tune up months the highest available fighter in performance points will fight the lowest available and so on until again all fighters active that month are matched.
GRUDGE
In grudge months the highest active fighter that month in performance points must fight the next highest rated fighter that they have previously met. If none are available they will not fight that month.
INTERNATIONAL
In international fight months available fighters fight within their own special groupings that I have placed them in as follows.
Superstar group - fighters rated overall 12+
Championship group - fighters rated overall 10-11.
Contender group - fighters rated overall 7-9.
Minor Contender group - fighters rated overall 6.
Gatekeeper group - fighters rated overall 5.
Trial Horse group - fighters rated overall 3-4.
Journeymen group - fighters rated overall 1-2.
Club Fighter group - fighters rated overall 0.
Beginner group - fighters rated 0-2 with less than 20 fights.
Top Prospect group - fighters rated 3+ with less than 20 fights.
each active fighter that month starting with the superstar group fights the next highest rated fighter performance points wise within his own group. If no other fighter within his own group is available he will then fight the highest ranked fighter in the group below.
Top Prospects and Beginners are matched differently.
The highest rated top prospect in PP is matched with the lowest available fighter in first the beginner group, then if none are available the club, then journemen, then trial horse groups.
The remaining beginner active fighters are then matched against themselves, then journeymen and trial horses.
The Top Prospects and Beginners are always found opponents first in these months them the superstar group and down.
Once Beginners and top proespects have 20 bouts they are then moved into the relevent group depending on their overall rating.
The diary month by month for a year of matchmaking is as follows.
January - Regional
February - International
March - Money
April - Grudge
May - Regional
June - International
July - Money
August - Tune Up
September - Regional
October - International
November - Money
December - Grudge
This system has many origins in many other replays by you guys, I have taken stuff from all over the place and ammended it so thk you very much.
