Boston 3, Minnesota 0
Boston pitching continued to hold the lackluster Twins lineup in check for the third straight game. This time around, it was Daisuke Matsuzaka doing the work, holding Minnesota to just four hits in throwing his first shutout of the season.
A close game through-out, Boston got on the board in the 6th when J.D. Drew hit a two-run double off starter Kevin Slowey to score Dustin Pedroia (walk) and David Ortiz (single) easily to give Matsuzaka all the support he would need.
The Red loaded the bases in the 8th with back-to-back singles by Ortiz and Drew and a one-out intentional walk to Brandon Moss, but reliver Matt Guerrier was able to get out of the jam with just a sacrifice fly from Mike Lowell.
So far this season, Matsuzaka is 4-3 with a 4.71 ERA in 70.2 IP (10 GS).
