Boston 11, Kansas City 5
Despite sitting regulars Coco Crisp, Julio Lugo and Manny Ramirez, Terry Francona's club was able to finish off the sweep of teh Kansas City Royals by the score of 11-5 at Fenway.
A seven-run third inning, punctuated by a bases-loaded, three-run double from David Ortiz, was the key Kevin Youkilis and Brandon Moss added back-to-back solo home runs in the inning in securing Jon Lester's sixth victory of the season. The home run was the first of Moss' major league career after 22 in six minor league seasons.
Ortiz added a two-run home run in the seventh to put the game out of reach for the Sox as Kansas City had climbed back to within 7-3.
With the sweep, Boston has guaranteed a season series win against the Royals, as the two clubs meet up again only for a three game series in August in Kanas City.
