Boston Red Sox v. Oakland Athletics

The Boston Red Sox are traveling west to face the slumping Oakland Athletics (17-31) in a three game series at McAfee Coliseum.

The Athletics, currently in fourth place in American League West, trail the Anaheim Angels by 8.5 games. They currently rank 11th in the AL in runs scored (212) and 14th in batting average (.233). On the other side of the diamond, they have given up 257 runs (14th) compared to 180 (1st) for the Red Sox.
