McGovern by a whisker!

Terry McGovern (21-1-2)(11) MD4 Harry Harris (18-4-3)(4)

McGovern (below) became the inaugural Golden Gloves Bantamweight Champion courtesy of a Majority draw. Two of the judges were unable to split the pair, whilst Lord Lonsdale gave it to McGovern by a point.

Harris had started the better of the pair, boxing well behind his lead left. McGovern piled on the pressure in the last two rounds, landing heavy hooks to the body and generally out working his opponent.
