2) I'm still hoping to find a 'deeper' db that also puts players on the teams (or in the systems) that they actually played for in 1962, and adds incoming players to the system they started in, but I'm beginning to lose hope.
7) I found the park effects file in the data folder this morning. Unfortunately, it looks like it never differentiates between right and left handed batters. That information should be available for at least the last couple of decades, because Strat-O-Matic has it, and it's really important for earlier seasons when many parks had a 'short porch' or 'death valley' that very strongly helped or hindered one side or the other.
8) I'll be posting down there once I collect some information about typical numbers of doubleheaders, days off and day vs. night games for the '60s. Thank you.
9) The exact schedules would only help if there was one for a twenty team league with one subleague, one division, playing a 152 game schedule, and from what I can tell from the schedules file, there isn't one.
My understanding is that if you use the same schedule for multiple seasons, the game engine will automatically rotate opponents from year to year, while keeping the basic structure the same ("only the names are changed…"). I don't want the teams to rotate. I want every season to open with the Braves at the Reds, and to have the Cubs play a Fourth of July doubleheader at Shea. (Yes, I know Shea didn't exist in 1962.)
Thanks for the help so far!

I would think that you could just re-load the custom schedule every year?
I don't have much experience with that, but I would think that works.
