With the additions of all the extra players and japanese & negro league players it works great to provide an enormous number of players for semi-historical leagues set in quasi english premier league style format.
Or any type of fictional league setup you could come up with.
If you are going to have a fictional league you might as well get all of the extra players from all the different time periods.
