Shaeffer: 2 Games, 4 HR's and 8 RBI's
08/22/2011
Just five days after being named the NABL American League Player of the Week,
Rudolph Shaeffer was back at it.
Facing the second place White Sox, Shaeffer showed off his true potential. The 26 year-old shortstop belted two homeruns in each of the last two games to bring his season total to a team leading 27 round trippers.
This was the third time this season he has hit two homeruns in a game and along with
3B David Adam, share the team lead with three multi-homerun games. Both are still looking for their first three homerun game.
Shaeffer is currently ranked as the 16th best offensive player in the game and is clearly one of the most feared hitters in the American League.
For this season in the AL he is ranked 3rd in average, 3rd in slugging, 3rd in OBP, 3rd in runs created/27 outs, 5th in homeruns, 3rd in RBI's, 3rd in isolated power, 5th in extra base hits and 5th in total bases.
"I just got hot and it feels great. I know I only had four hits in the last two games but all for homeruns, but everytime I made contact, I knew they were gone. I cant explain it but I could get used to this swing." laughed Shaeffer at his press conference.
He will definitely be receiving some MVP award votes as the season nears its end but behind teammate
"Boom Boom" Marquez and Texas's All-World talent
John "Lucky" Holle, it will be a tough award to win this season. Lets go Royals!!!
