It looks like parity rules in this league. In seven seasons, 13 out of the 36 franchises have participated in the World Series. Only Cleveland has more than one World Series appearance. Also, there have been seven different World Series winners thus far.

The league hopes to expand soon. The plan is to have 40 franchises in five years and 44 franchises in ten years.

The leading candidates for the first wave of expansion are:
Buffalo, NY
Raleigh or Charlotte, NC
Salt Lake City, UT
Nashville or Memphis, TN
Sacramento, CA
Vancouver, BC
Honolulu, HI
Oklahoma City, OK
Jacksonville, FL
Newark, NJ - the NYC metro area has grown to be enormous, and recent studies have shown that the region can easily support a third MLB team.

There are rumors that for the 2nd wave of expansion, the league may take the unprecedented step of adding teams in Europe and Japan.

Finally, I'm going through this pretty fast, but I want to establish a nice history before I slow things down and do more game and season recaps. When I really get into it, I'll post the standings after each month so that we get a feel for how each regular season went. I'll probably go through this quickly for another 20 to 30 seasons.
