1998 Preview
March 31st 1998 - A distinct lack of big names available through free-agency in the past offseason.
The biggest new contract was signed by Joakim Tronstad, who joined Vienna for $22.5M over 5 years. The 29 year-old shortstop hit .290 with 54 RBIs in 1997 for division rivals Barcelona.
The best other player who was a free agent was probably experienced closer Julio Ruiz, who signed a 1 year contract with Berlin for $3.4M. He has saved 106 games combined in the last 3 seasons.
Here's looking forward to another superb EBL season with Sofia, Helsinki, Glasgow, London, Barcelona and maybe some new powers all in contention.
