Damon's streak dead at 37
Outfielder goes 0-for-3 against Marlins
September 19, 1999
PHOENIX — Johnny Damon brought the most media attention the Arizona Diamondbacks have seen since the first game in the franchise's short history, but that attention will now subside as his hit streak ended at 37 games.
Damon went 0-for-3 against the Florida Marlins this afternoon, snapping his hitting streak. The streak is the longest in baseball this season, barely edging out New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter's 36-game streak earlier this season.
