Pineiro impressive in win over Toronto

CLEVELAND — The Toronto Blue Jays took a step backward today as they fell to the Indians, now one full game behind the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. in the American League Wild Card race.

Joe Pineiro improved to 10-6 for the Central division champions, holding the Blue Jays to one run on five hits and two walks over 8 1/3 innings.

Toronto will have a tough opponent tomorrow as Bartolo Colon (18-8, 4.00 ERA) toes the slab for Cleveland while the Blue Jays put Kelvim Escobar (13-9, 4.64 ERA) on the mound. In Florida, the Devil Rays will send Aaron Sele (13-10, 4.52 ERA) to the mound against Omar Daal (13-9, 4.55 ERA) of the New York Yankees.
