Erickson joins Devil Rays
Expected to serve in middle of rotation

ORLANDO — Among the players the Tampa Bay Devil Rays showed interest in as the trade deadline approached this summer was Scott Erickson. A deal with the Oakland Athletics was not reached, but the Devil Rays finally have Erickson on the roster.
Erickson signed a one-year deal worth more than $460,000 today as the annual winter meetings kicked off in Orlando.
Erickson, who turns 32 in February, went 9-4 with a 4.16 ERA in 19 starts with the Athletics after going 9-4 with a 2.52 ERA in 16 AAA starts. The right-hander owns a career record of 112-109 with a 4.52 ERA in 293 games, 290 of which were starts. He has previously pitched for the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, and Athletics. Erickson is a two-time All Star.
