2012 Spring Training: Jesus Uriate out 5 Months
03/23/2012
And the hits keep coming for the Royals. First it was their starting
2B Joey Ros out for three months, then their starting SS
Rudolph Shaeffer lost for the entire year and now its their best arm in the bullpen,
Jesus Uriate lost for five months with a torn bicep muscle.
This has just been an unbelievable Spring Training for the Royals. At the beginning they were the team to beat in the American League but as the days go by they are becoming weaker and weaker.
"Who the hell knows what is going on. This is just the most unbelievable Spring Training I have ever been associated with." said
GM Chris Torres. "It seems like every other day someone is getting injured. I am just looking to field a team for opening day now. I am not religious by any stretch of the means but I will be praying to end this Spring Training with no more injuries."
In his first year of pro ball, Uriate was 5-0 with a 2.25 ERA in 64.0 innings pitched last year. He was certainly the go to guy for the Royals last year. Who knows who that will be this year now.
"I felt good all morning and Spring Training. I just threw one pitch today and heard a pop. I knew it was bad immediately. I feel incredibly bad for letting the team down and just hope to rehab and get out there asap." a dejected Uriate said.
With only a few more days before the regular season starts, lets just hope for good news from the Royals camp. Lets go Royals!!
