Moyer crafts no-hitter
Halos held hitless at Safeco Field
May 7, 2000
SEATTLE — Mariners left-hander Jamie Moyer entered the history books tonight by throwing a no-hitter against the Anaheim Angels in a 8-0 win.
Moyer, 37, said he was able to control his emotions and nerves quite well through the first eight innings, but felt the pressure in the ninth inning as he closed in on history.
"You really become conscious of every pitch then," he said. "The adrenaline level kicks up even higher, and everybody in the stadium knows what is on the line. One mistake and its over."
Moyer faced 28 batters, striking out just three Angels batters and walking one.
"The defense did a great job out there," Moyer said. "Without them, this doesn't happen. I don't blow guys away, so for me to be successful I need the guys behind me to be successful."
