St. Louis Cardinals v. Boston Red Sox
Fenway Park, Boston, MA

The Red Sox are back home in the friendly confines of Fenway Park to face the St. Louis Cardinals for a three game set. St. Louis comes into the series with a 39-35 record, good for second place in the NL Central, 10.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs (49-24). The Cardinals offense ranks 1st in the NL with 417 runs scored. On the other other side of the diamond, the St. Louis pitching staff has complied a 4.56 ERA, 12th best.

The Red Sox (50-25) are coming off losing two of three to the Philadelphia Phillies in the midst of dropping six of their last ten. Boston remains 4 games ahead of the Yankees (46-29) in the AL East.

St. Louis's offense, led by the duo of Albert Pujols (.349, 18 HRs, 56 RBIs) and Rick Ankiel (.295, 19, 67), ranks in the top 5 in the NL in all major batting categories.
