The Atom processor is actually pretty decent, and a decent netbook nowadays can be used for anything that you could do with a mid-range notebook computer three or four years ago. A top of the line netbook is even better.
The Atom N270 will run at similar speeds to a Celeron M, with much better power consumption and far less heat. So in OOTP terms, you wouldn't want to sim a hundred years of MLB, but my guess is that it would be perfectly fine for keeping up with online leagues while traveling.
As I said, I'll someday try out OOTP on mine, because I'm curious, and I'll post some results.
