Injuries: Topsy Hartsel has seen his season go into a nosedive since earning Player of the Week honors April 20. After a vicious cold spell, Hartsel has now been shelved with a torn ligament in his thumb suffered diving for a ball against Los Angeles May 11. He’s expected to miss 2 months.
Round Trip (Four miscellaneous points about the team):
1) The termination of Tony LaRussa was met with a mixed reaction in the clubhouse. While some were critical of LaRussa’s micromanagement, he was generally perceived as a good guy who took the fall for the players’ failure to execute.

3) The injury to Topsy Hartsel has opened up some more ABs for B.J. Upton and Eric Hinske, who both have struggled in limited action so far. Upton has hit only .097 in 31 Abs, while Hinske is batting .227.
4) Mark Prior has not made a start since losing his fourth straight on May 9. He remains 1-6 with a 7.08 ERA.>>
