Fight recap
The fight started off in the same way as it ended; Nelson couldn’t connect with his punched while Gans could. Gans appeared to win every round and opened a nasty cut over Nelson’s right eye in the third round with a short left hook. By the 5th round the blood from the cut was impairing Nelson’s sight. The referee briefed halted the fight but decided to let it continue on the advice of the ring doctor. Finally in the 6th round the referee put a stop to it do to the severity of the cut. Gans won by TKO and successfully defended his title for the first time.
