1999 Preview
March 31st 1999 - A fairly quiet off-season has passed and another exciting season of baseball is upon us.
No trades of real note have taken place and the only real top level star to hit free agency was Richard Fabre, who joined Amsterdam for $27.1 over 5 years.
Flip van den Bosch would have been considered a top level star a couple of seasons ago, but Oslo were able to sign him for less than $1M per season due to a poor couple of seasons in Sofia's back-to-back title campaigns.
A couple of future hall of famers also moved teams with Vilfred Krak joining Moscow for a couple of seasons of adding to his EBL leading Home Run total and Fabien Lefebvre moving to Brussels.
Sofia's attempt at a three-peat might be hindered early on by the fact that reigning two-time EL Hitter of the Year and reigning European League Series MVP, Suljo Banovic, will be out for the first 5 weeks of the season thanks to a rotator cuff injury picked up whilst playing a round of golf.
