My mistake, then; I assumed this was a new league.
I guess my new recommendation would be to save at this point, then sim through the end of 2013. If things go back to normal, then revert to your saved game and continue, mentally marking off 2012 as your version of 1930 or 1987 (anomalous years in real baseball). If things don't improve in 2013, then probably you're toast and will have to start over.
