Fight recap
It was a sloppy fight from the beginning, with lots of wrestling and head butting. Ferns was the busier fighter, connecting with some good combinations, but Franey did some effective counterpunching. In the 3rd round, Franey received a gash on his upper lip, caused by a head butt. The referee briefly stopped the fight and the ringside doctor gave his ok to continue the fight.

By the end of the 5th round, Ferns appeared to have won every round. Rounds four and five were brutal on Franey, as Ferns landed several heavy combinations.

Ferns landed a couple of heavy combos in to start off round six. Ferns then went to the body with a right hand and Franey countered with a powerful left hook, flooring Ferns. Ferns tried to get up but only could make it to his knees. Franey won by a knockout and took the welterweight crown from Ferns.
