Baseball money is guaranteed, as mentioned. All the costs are upfront when a man is cut and a big enough hit can probably leave you really hurting for a few seasons if revenue sharing isn't turned on (Game menu > Game Setup > League Setup > Rules). For some historical research, check out Albert Belle's contract with the Orioles. Your one saving grace can come if a player retires, in which case you aren't on the hook for any of his money.
