Fight recap
Sharkey won the first three rounds and hurt Ruhlin in all three. Ruhlin was still dazed when round four started, but staggered Sharkey with a big left hook that he somehow snuck in. Sharkey was hanging on at the end of the 4th.
Sharkey’s head appeared clear when round 5 started. He dropped Ruhlin for a five count two minutes into the round. Thirty seconds later, Sharkey landed a dynamite body blow and Ruhlin went down quick. He never made it back up.
Sharkey won the fight by knockout and successfully defended his heavyweight crown for the first time.
