Injuries: Outfielder Cory Sullivan tore a ligament in his thumb on May 10 and will be out until at least early July. 2B Kid Gleason fractured his foot on June 13 and is expected to miss three weeks. RP J.J. Putz has forearm tendonitis and is expected to miss 1-2 weeks.
Round Trip (Four miscellaneous points about the team):
1) The productive middle infield took a hit with the injury to Kid Gleason, as he and Sam Bankhead have been quite a pair. Gleason who has taken over the 2B job is hitting .362, while Bankhead is hitting .327. The Stingers are trying to stick Morgan Ensberg at 2B in the interim, though the club may be shopping.

2) After hitting .219 for the first two months of the year,
1B Travis Hafner has gotten hot, hitting .368 this month while slugging a mighty .684. His average remains only .243, but Hafner now has 11 homers and 42 RBI.
3) The Stingers' starters have a collective ERA over 5 this month and now have the worst ERA in the Northern League at 4.85.
4) An amazing stat to consider: The Stingers are 7th of 8 in the Northern League in ERA, yet their staff has the most strikeouts of any in the Northern League.
Wichita Brigade

Top Performance: Rube Waddell struck out 9 in a 3-hit shutout over Sacramento, winning 5-0 on June 5.
Injuries: CF Cherokee Davis has a partially torn labrum and is expected to be out until the end of July.
Round Trip (Four miscellaneous points about the team):
1) Elton Chamberlain started the year with two poor starts and was soon relegated to the bullpen. But after almost two months of strong bullpen work, Chamberlain was given two starts and threw a pair of complete games, allowing 2 earned runs over 18 innings in the process.
2) Helping their own cause, Wichita pitchers have hit .302 so far this month with 7 RBI.
3) By starting their road-heavy month 7-4, the Brigade quieted some doubters who said the schedule had favored them. Now, they are 16-9 on the road, so it doesn't seem the venue is a problem for them.
4) 1B Frank Chance has hit .400 this month to raise his average on the season to .313.
