Many fighters that have been participating successfully in the "Boxing Team Championship" have voluntarily withdrawn to focus on the upcoming "1992 Individual Championship Tournament". Some of those big name fighters are: James Toney, Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Brian Mitchell, the list goes on and on of fighters who are already guaranteed a spot in the 12 man tournament for each division. Those fighters do not want to risk an injury or cut so close to the BIG tournament to crown a unified and undisputed World Champion in each weight division.
Although those fighters withdrawing from the "Team Championship" is a significant loss, the postive is new fighters will now have an opportunity to represent their respective area team and prove their own worth to fight in the World Championship Tournament.
