Ratings editor adjustments & player performance
Many of the hitters on my team--and on other clubs in my 24-team fictional league--are off to horribly slow starts a little over a month into the season. League batting averages are lower than I'd expected, and many players projected to hit .300+ are way below that. Pitching is fairly strong across the league and so is defense, but ballparks are hitter-friendly to balance that out.
I've been changing the ratings of several underperforming players using the ratings editor, but it seems there's little effect so far. I've even cranked the ratings of some players way up just to see what happens--200+ contact, power, gap, etc. The effects seem to be miniscule. I just want supposedly good players, guys expected to lead their teams if not the league in certain categories, to have respectable years. For instance, I don't want my first baseman, projected at the start of the season to finish .320/.400/.650 with 35 HRs to end up .200/.250/.450 with 20 HRs (his current rate).
I'm curious what effects changes to the ratings make when done during the season vs. before the season, and why cranking up ratings doesn't seem to be evening out performance. Some details: my talent change randomness is set to 60, and the scouting accuracy rating is Very High.
