Generally you don't need to be online at the same time as everyone else. In one league I play in, there are a handful from various parts of the US, one in Amsterdam and one in China.

Some leagues may have live drafts or chats and such, but other than that, you shouldn't necessarily need to be online at the same time.

The time commitment can vary. Just depends how much time you want to spend looking at your team, talking trades and so on. You can spend as little as 30 mins if you just download updates and export or if your much more involved you can spend a few hours a week.

The season time length depends on the sim schedule. I think generally a season will last around 1 1/2-2 months in real time, but some leagues sim at a quicker pace and others slower.

I've got a few questions about online leagues.

1. I'm in Australia, does the time zone I'm in have any impact on my ability to play an online league? Basically do I have to be online at the same time as everyone else, or are changes made in our own time (before a set deadline) and then simmed through?

2. What would be an 'average' weekly time committment required?

3. How long does a full in-game season typically take, assuming a full MLB schedule?

Thanks!
