Another theory on why Burley was shunned by the big names. I think there's some truth here, but I think the first commenter is right -- awfully tough to fully judge a guy who had nearly 100 fights on the basis of one (against a guy 15 pounds heavier, no less). But from reading descriptions of the fight, and watching the clip referred to in this article -- which can be
seen here on YouTube -- you get the impression of a 40s version of Winky Wright. Of course, I love Winky's fights, but it's not exactly a style that appeals to everyone.
