I suspect that a lot of this has to do with the tech support process. The fact is, Markus doesn't see every post that appears in General Discussion, and this thread didn't appear in Tech Support until the most recent patch was already being packaged for release.
Now that we're aware of it, we'll try to get it well-defined so that it can be promptly resolved and released in a patch.
