Thanks for your post, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The first few weeks after the release are always pretty busy around here!

I appreciate your detailed post. I've logged this as BZ 3380, and I'll ask Andreas to take a look at it and figure out whether it's a bug, or whether I've just improperly documented how it's supposed to work. From your description, I suspect the former, but we'll see what Andreas has to say about it!
