Some other interesting stuff.
A GLUT of middle relievers in the minors now in 2000.
Pedro Martinez is a one pitch, 100 stamina closer.
Mark McGwire is the Home Run champ now, with 752 homers and still going. He also holds the single season record with 82. Sosa has had 47 homers twice but has been otherwise unspectacular. Bonds has been solid but doesn't look like a hall of famer, but he could finish strong like he did in real life.
Clemens was good, then had an amazing 1990 then became awful with his era never going under 4.50 again. The best pitcher of this era is Bret Saberhagen and Dwight Gooden, but they both had pretty high lifetime ERAs and didn't get to 200 wins (but close).
The game seems to hate pitchers past 1960.
I may take what I have learned from this and start a fictional league starting in 2009 and simming 50 years or so. Playing with real players with OOTP has always led to frustration once I see my favorite players out of whack (Tiant, Palmer, Petrocelli for instance).
But that's the engine. This was a FANTASTIC set-up, pbar. Thanks for the hours of fun and the learning experience. I may change my mind and take over in 2000 or 2009 and just sim into eternity. I'm off for a weekend vacation, so I will plan where I will take OOTP10 in the future.
