Where have all the draft picks gone?

After 4,5 seasons in the game it might be interesting to do some research what happened to our draft picks since 2007.


2007:

1st Round CL Ángel Tapia (3-7-17, 3.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP - AAA). Might have reached the end of the road. Not good enough for our active roster.
2nd Round SP Alejandro Mendoza (9-4, 3.18 ERA, 1.27 WHIP - AA). Still developing, but slowly. AAA next year?
3rd Round SS Nick Haynes (.257, 0 HR, 24 RBI, 3 SB - Lower A). Didn't really recover from a ruptured medial collateral ligament. Soon out of baseball?
4th Round MR Alfonzo Mendoza (2-0, 4.81 ERA, 1.66 WHIP - AA). Bluebirds organization.
5th Round 3B Sukanobu Matsu****a (.175, 0 HR, 9 RBI - AAA/Japan).
6th Round MR Nelson Salazar (3-4-4, 4.04 ERA, 1.28 WHIP - A). The scouts still believe he makes the big leagues. I doubt that.
7th Round CL Michel Marcil (1-1-7, 0.60 ERA, 1.20 WHIP - AAA). Doing well as co-closer. And only 20 years old. Let's wait and see.
8th Round 1B Bob Bannatyne (.316, 3 HR, 33 RBI - AAA). Giants organization.
9th Round 2B Sean Stone (.000, 0 HR, 1 RBI - Lower A). Nationals organization.
10th Round 2B Andy Walker (.275, 0 HR, 14 RBI, 12 SB - AA). Bluebirds organization.
11th Round MR Todd Craig - out of the game since 2010.
12th Round SP Marcos Torres (1-0-1, 1.59 ERA, 1.06 WHIP - Short A). Rays organization.
13th Round MR Mike Currence (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.48 WHIP - A). Tigers organization.
14th Round MR Steffen Thomas (0-2, 7.79 ERA, 1.55 WHIP - AA). Might quite soon get the sack of me.
15th Round DH Marlon Nelson - out of the game since 2010.
16th Round C Dan Tsamis (.232, 1 HR, 23 RBI - AA). Still can't hit, but plays great behind the plate.
17th Round 1B Jack Cook (.329, 8 HR, 36 RBI - A). Continues his slow climb through our system. Ready for MLB when Prince Fielder retires?
18th Round 3B Yoshiyuki Ishida (.281, 6 HR, 24 RBI, 7 SB - AA). Shows no development and out for the next 11 months; but for the time being still with us.
19th Round RF Adrian Evans (.254, 0 HR, 4 RBI, 1 SB - A). Crusaders organization.
20th Round SS César Martínez (.257, 3 HR, 43 RBI, 2 SB - A). One of the best defensive players in our organization, but shows no development anymore.
21st Round SP Armando Romero (2-3, 9.41 ERA, 2.41 WHIP - AAA). Blizzards organization.
22nd Round MR Peter Coffey (1-5-4, 8.57 ERA, 2.00 WHIP - AA). Bluebirds organization.
23rd Round 2B Garland Peterson (.133, 0 HR, 0 RBI - R). Red Sox organization.
24th Round C Keven Sherling (.200, 3 HR, 34 RBI, 2 SB - A). Rays organization.
25th Round LF Zagwe Azagba (.265, 2 HR, 16 RBI, 2 SB - A). He's decreasing and still can't field.
26th Round CF Bill Carter (.286, 0 HR, 1 RBI - AA). Crusaders organization.
27th Round 1B Paul Jefferson (.257, 4 HR, 21 RBI - Lower A). Very slow developer. Should he stay, or go?
28th Round RF Joe Hall (.222, 0 HR, 1 RBI - R). Marmots organization.


2008:

1st Round MR Jorge "Shake n' Bake" Fanego (1-1-1, 0.95 ERA, 0.65 WHIP - MLB). At the moment our best reliever, having absolutely no problem to pitch against the big guys.
2nd Round CF Bill Banks (.228, 3 HR, 17 RBI, 4 SB - AA). Has big potential, but still doesn't show it.
3rd Round RF António Carrión (.278, 0 HR, 28 RBI, 7 SB - A). Crusaders organization.
4th Round LF Fred Byrd (.234, 5 HR, 38 RBI, 26 SB - AA). Has some problems with hitting AA pitching, but still gets some chances.
5th Round C Ed Maegawa (.273, 0 HR, 2 RBI - R). Cardinals organization.
6th Round 1B Mauro Icaza (.241, 4 HR, 17 RBI, 4 SB - A). Very slowly developing, and already 25.
7th Round SS Melvin Roberts - CEI in 2008.
8th Round SP Júlio Correa (0-1, 10.39 ERA - Short A). Cubs organization.
9th Round MR Ulbert Verberne (1-8-1, 4.48 ERA - A). Cubs organization.
10th Round MR Rodrigo Chávez (3-3, 4.43 ERA, 1.37 WHIP - Lower A). Another slow developer.
11th Round RF Emerson Phillips (.246, 4 HR, 34 RBI, 5 SB - AA). Looks like he reached the end of the road.
12th Round SP Juan Rocha (3-2, 3.52 ERA, 1.28 WHIP - AA). Was recently promoted to AA and does well there.
13th Round SP Tanner Smith (NR - Lower A). Big potential, but didn't pitch yet this season.
14th Round RF John Knight (.212, 4 HR, 16 RBI, 3 SB - Lower A). Still can't hit, but his speed keeps him in the system.
15th Round MR Chris Benjamin - out of the game since 2009.
16th Round MR Phil Bullard (5-1-1, 4.74 ERA, 1.50 WHIP - A). An average reliever, but for what you need an average reliever at A?
17th Round SP Bill Brown (5-7, 5.06 ERA, 1.65 WHIP - Lower A). Still struggling at Lower A. Hmmm
18th Round SP Wayne Schleicher (0-0, 5.65 ERA, 1.33 WHIP - Short A). Cubs organization.
19th Round 3B Álvaro Álvarez (.291, 6 HR, 36 RBI, 1 SB - A). A great prospect, who still has much time left at the age of 20.
20th Round CF Pedro Lee (.206, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 11 SB - A). Indians organization.
21st Round 2B José Cortés - out of the game since 2010.
22nd Round CF Pedro Aguilar (.255, 0 HR, 23 RBI, 5 SB - A). Is not developing, but the scouts say he has much potential.
23rd Round LF Arnold Spivey - out of the game since 2008.
24th Round C Francisco Sánchez (.306, 0 HR, 2 RBI - Short A). Bluebirds organization.
25th Round SP Cedric Smith (2-1, 2.10 ERA, 0.97 WHIP - A). Surprised this season, and might continue to move up in the system.
26th Round MR Armando Hernández (2-0-1, 2.67 ERA, 1.25 WHIP - A). Also this guy from Nicaragua is doing surprisingly well this season.
27th Round 2B Luis Mireles - out of the game since 2009.
28th Round RF Juan Sánchez (.303, 0 HR,17 RBI, 1 SB - AA). Got another year at AA and continues to do well.


2009:

1st Round CL Iván 'Silent George' González (0-1-24, 1.26 ERA, 0.73 WHIP - MLB). Like our 2008 1st round draft pick, he's already a very dominant piece of our bullpen.
2nd Round 1B Guy Livingston - out of the game since 2010.
3rd Round MR Leonard Taylor (1-1-1, 2.39 ERA, 1.16 WHIP - AA). Great reliever who might soon get the call up to AAA.
4th Round SP Eric Warren (0-7, 7.36 ERA, 1.64 WHIP - Lower R). Doesn't look good for him to be honest.
5th Round 2B Jacob Johnson (.271, 1 HR, 14 RBI, 3 SB - Lower R). Develops, but slowly.
6th MR Valentín Bojórquez (1-1-3, 1.76 ERA, 1.17 WHIP - AAA). If he continues in this pace, he might reach the big leauges next year.
7th 3B Juan Rodríguez (.262, 5 HR, 27 RBI, 1 SB - A). A big talent, who's not a very good fielder.
8th C Alejandro López (.253, 3 HR, 25 RBI - A). A catching prospect that can hit - a bit at least?
9th 1B Chris Brady (.254, 8 HR, 32 RBI - AA). Made a big jump to AA and does quite well.
10th SP Will Major (1-0, 6.75 ERA, 1.69 WHIP - Short A). Red Sox organization.
11th CL Henry Wood (0-4-25, 3.26 ERA, 1.25 WHIP - A). Average closer with an awful fastball.
12th LF Joe DeWitt - out of the game since 2010.
13th CF Steve 'Squirt' Nesta (.278, 3 HR, 21 RBI, 10 SB - A). Continues his was through the system, step by step.
14th MR Eddie Stevenson (0-3, 4.34 ERA, 1.82 WHIP - Lower A). Continues to have control issues.
15th MR Aaron Geis (0-0, 4.82 ERA, 1.88 WHIP - Lower A). Doesn't live up to expectations yet.
16th SP Orlando Canó (1-2, 2.29 ERA, 0.97 WHIP - Upper R). Moved up to the second rookie level, and is doing fine there.
17th 1B Travis Adkins - out of the game since 2009.
18th RF Dan Latham (.292, 4 HR, 31 RBI, 5 SB - A). Doing quite well at A and might get promoted soon.
19th 3B Rubén Loyola (NR - R) - out of the game since 2010.
20th LF Bernd van Oeveren (.253, 0 HR, 6 RBI - Lower A) - out of the game since 2010.
21st RF Aolex Juliachs - out of the game since 2009.
22nd SS Jason Covington (.257, 1 HR, 14 RBI, 9 SB - A). Might have already seen the end of the road.
23rd C Jorge Román (.343, 2 HR, 19 RBI - AA). Made a big jump to AA and does great as backup there.
24th MR Shinkichi Ichihara - out of the game since 2010.
25th MR Júlio Vázquez (0-0, 7.35 ERA, 2.73 WHIP - Lower A). Simply awful in limited playing time for an even more awful team.
26th SP Aubrey Perkins - out of the game since 2009.
27th CF Mark Lowrance (.218, 5 HR, 21 RBI, 6 SB - Lower A). Struggles as well for West Virginia, but not many do it well there.
28th 2B Esteban Reyos - out of the game since 2009.


2010:

1st CF Rex Robertson (.184, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 1 SB - Upper R). Saw very limited playing time this season so far and struggles.
2nd 2B Félix Hernández (.266, 4 HR, 21 RBI, 9 SB - A). Develops well and does fair at A level already.
3rd RF Jon Mooney (.183, 1 HR, 15 RBI - Lower A). West Virginia is not a good place for hitting prospects. Mooney is only 19 years though.
4th 3B Ramiro Guerra (.233, 0 HR, 8 RBI - Lower A). Not showing much in limited playing time.
5th SS Michael Hayes (.340, 0 HR, 6 RBI, 1 SB - Upper R). Showing great progress this season.
6th MR Tim Jordan (0-5, 7.61 ERA, 1.48 WHIP - Lower A). Also struggling badly at West Virginia.
7th MR Jon Becker (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP - Upper R). Only pitched an inning so far this season, but has 7 pitch potential.
8th CL Quiang Yi (0-1-10, 3.95 ERA, 0.95 WHIP - Lower A). Actually a guy who does well for West Virginia. Could at one point make it to the big leagues.
9th 2B Nando Assante - out of the game since 2010.
10th SS Bob Barrett (.293, 0 HR, 3 RBI - Upper R). Playing ok as backup infielder at the moment.
11th RF Sancho García (.250, 7 HR, 29 RBI, 1 SB - Lower A). Great numbers when you keep in mind where he is playing. But we are very deep on outfielders.
12th 2B Willie Bryant (.259, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 1 SB - Upper R). Pretty average in limited playing time.
13th SP Scott Pierce (1-2, 0.43 ERA, 0.90 WHIP - Upper R). Had a wonderful start to season, and might soon get to call to Lower A.
14th 1B Richard Harper - out of the game since 2010.
15th 3B Eric Bennett (.238, 1 HR, 2 RBI - Upper R). Didn't show much during his first two pro years.
16th C Eduardo Garza (.300, 1 HR, 13 RBI - A). Made the jump to A level and doing great there.
17th CF Fausto Maurcia (.244, 0 HR, 9 RBI, 1 SB - Lower A). Being a backup outfielder, but is only 18 years old.
18th MR Steve Moody (0-0, 10.80 ERA, 2.40 WHIP - Upper R). Got rocked in his first two games this year, but much potential.
19th MR Eric Roberts (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.00 WHIP - Lower R). Only one game this year, but also great potential.
20th SP Howard Chambers (2-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.80 WHIP - Lower R). Didn't allow a run in two starts this season. Interesting prospect for sure.
21th 1B Gabriel Moreno (.237, 1 HR, 9 RBI - Lower A). Struggles, but still has some potential left.
22nd LFEnrico Gutiérrez (.250, 0 HR, 3 RBI - Upper R). Didn't show much so far, and most likely will never show much more.
23rd CF Darren MacNeill (.253, 5 HR, 31 RBI, 4 SB - A). Showed some surprising power and could be a decent outfielder in future.
24th LF Juan Carrillo (.292, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 1 SB - Lower A). Batting almost .300 at West Virginia. We have to watch this guy closely
25th C Bill Haynes (.188, 0 HR, 3 RBI - Upper R). Had an awful start of the season at Helena.
26th 1B Thomas Simpson (.313, 0 HR, 4 RBI - Lower R). Great start to the season, but a below average fielder.
27th SS Chester Brown - out of the game since 2010.
28th C John Blanchard (.208, 0 HR, 10 RBI - Lower A). Doesn't look like the answer to become an everyday catcher?
