Meet the Finger Lakes League East

Now, the four clubs of the East Division:

AUBURN ATHLETICS
Stadium: Seward Field
Affiliates: Skaneateles Mohawks (AAA), Elbridge Eagles (AA), Weedsport Weeds (A)

Why is 2B/3B Miguel Chavez called "Blur?" Is it because of his quick bat, his blazing speed, or the power of his throwing arm? That combination of talents made him the #2 pick in the inaugural draft. At age 24, look for him in the heart of the A's order for years. SS Ron Harris and CF Davis Bishop are among the other Auburn players to watch.

Pitching might be the Athletics' weakness, with Pablo Ramirez the best of an ordinary lot of starters. RHP Alejandro Gomez, the team's best prospect, will be counted on to contribute in a hurry.

ELMIRA CHIEFS
Stadium: Eldridge Park
Affiliates: Watkins Glen Bucks (AAA), Horseheads Stallions (AA), Montour Falls Pioneers (A)

In RF Rich Everett and 3B Geoffrey Marks, the Chiefs possess two strong candidates for postseason honors. Everett's calling card is light-tower power, while Marks should hit .300 with ease. LF Julio Bruno might be 36 years old, but he has mastered the art of getting on base.

Veteran Jose Encarnacion and youngster Jeremy Ramos lead the Chiefs rotation, but the team's best pitcher might well be closer Matt "Banjo" Wilson, who combines a 98 MPH fastball with pinpoint control.

ITHACA OLYMPICS
Stadium: Olympic Park
Affiliates: Cortland Cougars (AAA), Trumansburg Terriers (AA), Moravia Missionaries (A)

Is 21-year-old phenom Dusty Johnson ready to head a FLL rotation? The Olympics think so, and he'll be among those wearing the flashy royal-and-orange uniforms the Olympics have chosen. The bullpen, headed by lefties Dan Saunders and William Blair, should be among the league's best.

SS Cipriano Torres and RF Frank Clark both hit for average and power, and at age 23, Clark is among the league's hottest young stars. Infielder Kokei Suzuki (age 19) is the centerpiece of a strong farm system.

OSWEGO FOXES
Stadium: Foxes Stadium
Affiliates: Fulton Steamboats (AAA), Baldwinsville Ducks (AA), Wolcott Wolves (A)

The Foxes gambled and took 19-year-old SS Greg Carruthers in the first round of the inaugural draft, and it looks like he'll be in the team's starting lineup on Opening Day. Carruthers possesses every tool except speed, and no young player in the league can claim his upside. LF Justin Lang is a surer bet for quick stardom; he's a polished hitter and a solid outfielder.

Powerful righthanders Jeffrey Hennessey and Truman Johnson will anchor the Foxes rotation, with help from Jimmy Butler and closer Dan Jones, whose fearsome fastball has been clocked at 101 MPH.
