Established Fictional-Talent Only League With Twist (Human Player Agent)

One of the best writing leagues on the internet has openings. It's a talent only league and is very smartly run by Tom Hickman who has been around OOTP and online leagues for years.

the MoneyBall Union Home

We have just converted to OOTPX and looking for a few good people to join our long standing league as we begin the OFFSEASON. tMBU has been around since real life year 2003 and we have over 20 years of player and team history in the league.
The teams open are as follows:

Maine Home Page - boasts excellent talent in the bigs and a swelling prospect base. With a top rated team, this is almost playoff bound - can you take it there?

Santa Fe Home Page - has a deep farm and a high draft pick this coming year, our League Rookie Draft Pool Report - Scouted by: OSA will add depth to this financially fresh franchise.

A couple other teams may come available.

Relocations are possible but must be done through an official proposal (details are in the League Constitution). the Money Ball Union Constitution

TMBU is a fictional, 24 team, talent-only league with tons of owner participation. We use a human Player Agent to handle all contracts (arbitration is handled by the game AI). The Player Agent does not own a team. We currently have a $90 mil salary cap.

The Player Agent aspect might be the best part of tMBU. Ever since our inception in real life year 2003, we have had the human player aspect in our league. Every agent has brought his own personality to the role and our current agent is no exception. The human agent aspect might seem like a bad thing for some, but it really adds to our league’s identity. You can’t match the realism you get from dealing with an agent that is passionate and sometimes emotional about the contract he is negotiating. In my experience, all of the Agents have been a pleasure to work with when you lay out your proposal in a logical and well thought out manner.

A few other things that make our league stand out among the rest is:

1. The inception of the Scout-a-Prospect feature which allows the team's GM the ability to personally name and customize their player. You can purchase upgrades for your player that can go toward improving the player's speed/defense/greed/intelligence. Purchasing power is gained by writing team news and player profiles on the forums.

2. We instilled a winter league affiliation to tMBU. The Venezuelan winter league has 8 teams. League runs Nov. through Jan. All tMBU teams can "buy" a yearly affiliation for a set number of PP's (Participation Points). Participation points are accumulated by writing articles on the forums. This winter league allows tMBU teams to send players/prospects to Venezuela to learn new positions, get more games in, etc.

Any interested parties may contact me via email dkantanen@gmail.com or via PM. It would also be helpful if you register for the league forums and post in the FAQ Newbies section. A simple post about you and the team that interests you will work.

Our forums are quite active and can be considered the life-blood of the league. We have a fine collection of owners that are dedicated to winning and passionate about their team. Our online community is somewhat like a family. We argue like brothers on occasion but we value the league and the sum of its parts more than our own personal goals.

The talent-only aspect also sets us apart from many other leagues. It can make the job of evaluating players so much more challenging when you never get to see their ratings. If you have been performing well in other leagues and are looking for a challenge, I highly recommend a talent-only league.

Come on over and join our league. We will welcome you with open arms. In my biased opinion, tMBU is the best league around. Join and find out for yourself.

So, drop into the our forum, sign up and say hello to us all in our New Owners forum!
