Hotel Portosole; San Remo, Italy
Gianfranco Rosi 55-5-1 (16) Italy IBF
vs.
Pat Lawlor 21-1 (6) California

- Rosi was a 4-1 favorite.
- Rosi's conditioning was "Completely unprepared". His recent March 29 knockout loss to Terry Norris led to his being unable to spar during training and his overall training preperation was far less than 100%.
- Fresh off his upset of Hilton in Montreal, the 4-1 underdog, was looking forward to shocking the experts once again.
- Te referee was Kazumasa Kuwata of Japan. The 3 judges were from Panama, Mexico, and Spain.
- In a sloppy pedestrian like fight, Gianfranco Rosi cut Lawlor in round 8, knocked him down in round 10, and finally stopped him round 11.
- At the time of the stoppage Ringside Expert Roy Paeth had Rosi in front 99-91. The punches landed favored Rosi 240-136.
- Gianfranco Rosi will next fight Jorge Castro in a September WBA / IBF unification fight. That fight will take place in Italy, with the Terry Norris vs. Chris Pyatt fight on the undercard.
Gianfranco Rosi TKO10 Pat Lawlor (defends IBF title)
