- Tiberi was a 5-2 favorite.
- Joe Gatti jumped all over Tiberi in round 1 and continued with his non-stop aggressive attack, never allowing the Delaware fighter a chance to get going. Gatti floored Tiberi in round 3, then again twice more in round 5. Tiberi was unable to beat the count of the final knockdown.
- After this impressive KO victory Gatti will be a live underdog in his challenge of James Toney for the IBF title.
