Stupendous 6s Round 1 Fight 26
Herbie Hide vs. Billy Daniels – Herbie rocked Billy with a wicked combination just after the bell sounded. He landed a solid straight right and a sizzling uppercut as well. Daniels traded uppercuts with him and scored some points as well. Herbie ended up well ahead, 17-6, on the strength of his power punches, but his left eye was beginning to swell, as Daniels targeted it .
The Dancing Destroyer landed a sweet hook in the 2nd, but Billy was landing as well, and frequently. Among his 47 punches that found their target were 16 crosses & 13 jabs. Billy won, 16-10, and Hide’s eye was now an ugly swollen mess !
Herbie’s hooks were more than a match for Billy’s crosses in the first minute of the 3rd, as he built a nice 10-5 lead. But Billy hurt Hide with a nasty left, and Herbie tried to cover up. Daniels boxed nicely, landing 38 times in all, rallying for a 16-12 round that had the fans on their feet! Hide’s vision was now impaired, as his eye was half-shut.
Daniels stunned Hide with a whistling hook early in the 4th, then floored him with a savage uppercut ! Herbie bounced back up at the count of 4, but ran into a Daniels buzzsaw! Daniels teed off, landing 73 times, 23 being jabs & 18 crosses, as he used Hide as a punching bag ! Herbie could barely see, and had no success in evading Billy, and he stood there, helpless and hapless. Daniels fired the last of his 73 punches, a thundering shot to the midsection, and Herbie fell as the bell sounded. This time, he wisely stayed down, and Billy Daniels showed surprising power, winning by a KO at 3:00 of the 4th! He had landed at a 63% clip and outlanded his game opponent, 179-93. He administered a savage beating, taking advantage of that swollen eye.
